About the Program

The Leadership Academy allows students to develop leadership skills and gain exposure to health care leadership. This program is a free non-credit opportunity open to all seniors attending Illinois State University Mennonite College of Nursing. Students gain a competitive edge over other candidates for leadership roles and will be more successful, both personally and in their careers.

Program Objectives

  • Establish a strong leadership philosophy
  • Develop personal leadership for nurses
  • Strengthen participants' ability to lead others
  • Enable students to lead their organizations into the future

Professional Development Sessions

  • Personal leadership (One 8-hour session)
  • Interpersonal leadership (One 8-hour session)
  • Sustaining leadership (Three 3-hour sessions)

Schedule

Joining the Leadership Academy is a commitment that includes the required attendance of 5 sessions of professional development. Sessions will be held on campus or within a short drive from campus. Coffee, drinks, snacks, and meals will be provided. The coursework will require active participation, some pre-work, and in-session experiential learning.

Two (2) Full-Day Sessions (8:00 am - 4:30 pm)

Two (2) 3-Hour Evening Sessions (6:00 – 9:00 pm) during the Fall Semester

  • Tuesday, October 1, 2024
  • Tuesday, November 12, 2024

One (1) 3-Hour Evening Session (6:00 – 9:00 pm) during the Spring Semester

  • Thursday, April 10, 2025
