Empower Program
Effective Mentorship Program Organized to support the Well-being of diverse students, Encourage community, and Reinforce equity and inclusion. The Empower program provides Mennonite College of Nursing students with community and belonging through mentorship, academic support, wellness activities, resources, and events.
Requirements for the Empower Program
For this program to be successful, we need active engagement from students. Here is an overview of the requirements.
- Attend 2 events per semester
- Attend 2 peer tutoring sessions or faculty office hours per semester
- Optional: Request a graduate student or faculty member to be your mentor for the academic year
Students engaged in the program will receive graduation cords.

Success: Attend an Overcoming Test Anxiety workshop through the Julia N. Visor Center
Connections: Wellness walk with faculty/staff/peers
Technology: Get to know the Community Engagement Unit at ISU and hear from the Safe Redbird Ambassadors about cyber safety tips
Career: Hear from a panel of nurses about their path and experiences as a nurse.
Civic Engagement: Volunteer opportunity
Culture: Students, faculty, and staff can bring a disk to share pertinent to their culture
Creativity: Stress relief activity
Wellness: Join us for yoga
