Research Interests & Areas

Dr. Blakeman conducts research related to cardiovascular disease (CVD) and symptom science, especially the ways that individuals conceive, perceive, attribute, react to, and manage symptoms of acute coronary syndrome. A secondary component of his program of research is related to health care professionals’ knowledge and behaviors related to cardiovascular disease symptoms. His ultimate goal is to improve recognition of CVD symptoms and to reduce delay times in seeking health care for CVD. He has special interest in instrument design and testing and rural populations.
