Marie Yoder Endowed Scholarship
The Marie Yoder Scholarship Endowment Fund was established in 1998 by Marie Yoder through the BroMenn Foundation to be used for scholarships for nursing students at Mennonite College of Nursing.
The initial funds to form the endowment came from the consolidation of all gifts from Marie Yoder to the Mennonite College of Nursing Endowment Fund from December 1, 1989, to July 1, 1998. As a part of the acquisition of Mennonite College of Nursing by Illinois State University, on July 1, 1999, the Marie Yoder Scholarship Endowment Fund was transferred to the Illinois State University Foundation, for the benefit of students at Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University.
Mrs. Marie (Marquis) Yoder graduated from Mennonite Hospital School of Nursing in 1935. A long-time and generous benefactor to Mennonite Hospital School of Nursing and Mennonite College of Nursing.
Mrs. Yoder established the scholarship fund for the purposes of promoting clinical nursing excellence and supporting those students who demonstrate outstanding nursing skills, and acceptable academic achievement. Her intent in establishing this endowed scholarship was to insure that highly qualified individuals would be able to complete their nursing education without the worry of financial commitments.
