This program is for you if:
You already have a bachelor's degree, and are looking to earn a second bachelor's degree in nursing.
Students accepted into the Accelerated Prelicensure Option will complete a total of 8 courses that contain a clinical component. These clinically-based courses are offered over the span of 4-5 semesters (or 15 months) and within a 90 minute radius of Bloomington-Normal. A typical nursing student plan of study on average could include evening and weekend clinical placements on two to three days out of the week. Students are responsible for the cost incurred for personal transportation to and from these clinical placemets. Many students choose to car pool in order to contain costs. Individual clinical preferences will not be accommodated.
Health and Safety
All students entering their respective nursing program are expected to be compliant with all health and safety requirements of the University and the clinical sites they are assigned to or have selected at all times. In addition to any University expectations, all students engaged in a clinical for credit are subject to any applicable policies and/or procedures of the clinical site, including immunizations and other requests. Upon admission, students receive a comprehensive list of health and safety compliance requirements that must be adhered to prior to nursing course registration. These include, but are not limited to the following: immunizations, blood titers, TB skin test, influenza vaccination, criminal background checks, and drug tests. Upon clinical assignment and throughout the semester as applicable, students are provided with any additional clinical site-specific requirements that are above and beyond those outlined upon admission in the Health and Safety Packet. If clinical site requirements are stricter (e.g., require COVID-19 vaccination proof or testing more frequently than ISU), students must meet the requirements of their clinical site by providing documentation as directed by the clinical site (i.e., directly to the site following their guidelines for compliance and/or through the College with an appropriate release). Students must comply with these requirements in order to receive an override to register or remain registered for clinical. More details related to health and safety can be found in the Health and Safety section of the Student Handbooks. Students should refer to their Health and Safety packets to be aware of requirements and deadlines.
Success Plan
Prepare to experience excellence that exceeds the ordinary!
The Success Plan tests are like stepping stones on a path through school all leading to the last exam--National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX).
The College Success Plan outlines a path to best prepare students for success. During their junior and senior year, students take a series of mastery exams designed to prepare them for the NCLEX Exam, and ultimately, to excel in the field of nursing.
