The purpose of selecting a faculty member to receive the Outstanding College Researcher Award is to recognize a colleague who demonstrates:
$500
Tenured and tenure-track faculty who have been at ISU at least 3 academic years prior to application are eligible for the award.
Applicants may not have received a previous Mennonite College of Nursing Outstanding Researcher Award or a University Research Award within the last five academic years.
The selection committee will consider the applicant’s entire research record. However, greater emphasis will be placed on the most recent five year period and on the applicant’s research while at ISU.
Nominees will be evaluated for a) nationally and internationally recognized research, b) quality of scholarly work, and c) contribution to profession/discipline.
Scholarly works of faculty must reflect the definition of research adopted by the University Research Committee.
The University Research Committee defined research as follows:
Research is a formal procedure which contributes to the expansion of basic knowledge or applies such knowledge to the solution of problems in society or exemplifies creative expression in a specific field of study. The results of research are communicated to professionals outside the University through a peer review process in a manner appropriate to the discipline.
It is possible that the selection committee will decide not to present an award in a given year, if the research records of the applicants do not meet the committee’s standards of excellence.
No nominations are required. Any faculty member with an appropriate research record who meets the eligibility criteria is encouraged to submit an application.

The statement must be signed and dated, and may not exceed one page, single-spaced.
Applicants are encouraged to refer to ISU’s Research and Sponsored Program’s webpage regarding “Criteria for the Evaluation of Scholarly and Creative Productivity” http://www.rsp.ilstu.edu/funding/internal/criteria_evaluation.shtml
