Are you considering applying to one of the Mennonite College of Nursing's graduate programs? Use this checklist to help you get ready to apply.
Assess your career priorities and the current demands in life to determine the proper time for graduate school.
Consider how you will manage your time to maintain a healthy and successful balance between family, work, school and your other obligations. The amount of time you spend in class, clinical, and preparation for these varies with each individual student. However, graduate school requires a significant time commitment that usually requires students to re-prioritize some of their other responsibilities.
Look at payment options and decide how you will pay for your graduate school program?
Whether online or on campus, all graduate programs use distance education software, Microsoft Office applications, email and other specialized information technology. Assess your skills and determine where you need to improve your comfort level.
Assess your strengths and skills that contribute to success in a graduate program. Learning styles, personality, interpersonal skills, and writing assessments can all help you to understand what strengths you will build on and where you may need to focus attention.
Review the application/admission requirements of the graduate programs to which you are applying. You will want to plan time to assemble a competitive application.
Talk to the program leader, faculty, and other students in the program. It is important to make sure the program you are applying for is a good fit for your career goals. Our goal is to admit you, retain you and graduate you!
Navigate through our virtual orientation. It will help you to understand what is required of new MCN graduate students. If you become a graduate student in MCN, you will also participate in our on campus orientation program where you will meet the faculty and staff and you will become acquainted with the campus and campus resources that you will need throughout your program.
We look forward to receiving your application! Please contact us if you have any questions.
